Fiberglass FRP Fabrication

Custom Fiberglass FRP Solutions for Strength, Durability & Versatility

At Laminate Engineering, we specialize in fiberglass reinforced plastic (RFP) fabrication, providing lightweight, durable, and corrosion-resistant solutions for a wide range of industries. Our molding techniques and material customization allow us to tailor each product to meet specific strength, performance, and aesthetic requirements.

With our expertise in open molding, wet layup, vacuum bagging, and resin infusion, we deliver high-quality composite components that perform reliably in demanding environments. Whether you need impact-resistant industrial parts, RF-transparent radomes, or corrosion-resistant chemical enclosures, our fiberglass solutions provide a cost-effective alternative to metal and carbon fiber.

Fiberglass FRP Fabrication Processes

Open Molding

Open molding is a flexible and economical process for manufacturing fiberglass parts with complex geometries. It is ideal for all production volumes, allowing for durable components with customizable finishes. This method can incorporate gel coat layers for enhanced UV and chemical resistance.

Wet Layup & Vacuum Bagging

Wet layup is a hand-layup process where fiberglass reinforcements are saturated with resin on a form before being vacuum bagged to remove air pockets and excess resin. This method results in higher fiber-to-resin ratios, producing stronger, lighter parts.

Resin Infusion

Resin infusion uses vacuum pressure to draw resin through a dry fiberglass preform, creating uniformly impregnated, high-strength components. This technique is ideal for structural applications requiring superior strength, lightweight construction, and minimal voids.

Material Customizations: Resins, Gel Coats & Pigments

Gel Coats

A gel coat finish enhances durability, weather resistance, and appearance. Applied to the mold before the fiberglass layup, gel coats provide a smooth, protective surface that resists UV degredation, chemicals, and impact damage.

Pigments & Custom Coloring

We can integrate custom pigments directly into gel coat or resin, achieving consistent, long-lasting color without the need for secondary painting. This allows for aesthetic customization, branding consistency, and added UV protection in outdoor applications.

Resin Selection

Choosing the right resin is critical for optimizing the performance, cost, and longevity of FRP components. We specialize in:

Polyester Resin

A cost-effective option with good mechanical properties, commonly used for general-purpose applications

Vinylester Resin

Offers supperior chemical and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for chemical processing equipment and marine applications

Epoxy Resin

Provides the highest strength, toughness, and temperature resistance, often used in structural and high-performance applications

Why Fiberglass?

Key Benefits & Applications

Fiberglass FRP is valued for its strength, versitility, and cost-effectivenesss across multiple industries. Its unique material properties make it a preferred choice for applications where weight, corrosion resistance, and durability are essential.

01

Cost-Effective

Provides high performance at a lower cost than metals and carbon fiber

02

Corrosion & Chemical Resistance
